THIS WEEK AT WONFORD
Messy Church
What is Messy Church?
- Messy Church is for people who want something a bit different.
- Messy Church is for families who want to know more about Jesus.
What happens at Messy Church?
- The afternoon starts with crafts and creativity linked to a theme.
- There is a (very short) worship session, with a bible story.
- Finally there is a meal – this is designed to be quite filling.
What did we do at the last Messy Church?
The theme was “The Good Shepherd”. We looked at how everyone is valuable to God; and how he will look after us like a shepherd will look after his sheep.
We made a sheep collage, weaving and knitting, and sheep-shape prayers as well as plasticine sheep and sheep hand puppets. The results were all very impressive. A cardboard sheepfold was made, and used in the drama with younger people doing the acting to the story from the bible. Baa!
To finish off there was baked potato with lots of tasty fillings.
Where did we get the idea?
The people who came up with the name are St Wilfrid's In Cowplain In Portsmouth. You can read about them here.
